  Cosy room with Rhine view. Let down by a hurried complex check-in and expensive breakfast

  Liked: The room was very cosy and we had a little balcony that looked out over the Rhine. It was a great location for the old town. The station, the old market and the cathedral were all within walking distance.

  Disliked: It is renting a room only above the restaurant - there is no lobby or sitting area.The guy at check-in was rushed and made a simple process complicated. He insisted on placing our breakfast order that evening and the eating time. The breakfast was good but overpriced with no discount for guests despite booking.com offering us 10% off food and drink - everything is itemised. I had eggs Florentine and my wife had granola with yoghurt- no extras. Then two coffees each and a bottle of cold water. That came to €55. By comparison the previous night in Hamburg Conrad we had a fantastic buffet spread with a variety of fruits, cheese, croissants and all sorts of bread (there was also a spread of cold meats) and as much espresso, juices and water as desired. That was €39 from booking.com or €46 on the day. It has to be said that the woman who served the breakfast was very pleasant and calm and I said that she should do the check-in.

  Great experience, welcoming staff, would stay here again

  Liked: The location was perfect as it was only a few minutes walk to the cathedral and other sites/ shops. It was generally quiet in the room. Having aircon available was great due to the hot weather but there was an option to open the windows which we appreciated. Everything was clean and of a good standard. The staff were lovely and accommodating

  Disliked: The light in the corner of the room didn’t seem to work so in the evening it felt a bit dark in the room as there was no natural light coming in. At times the light bulb in the bathroom was flickering.

  Wonderful weekend in beautiful Cologne

  Liked: Fantastic location, 5 minute walk to the Cathedral, a further 3 minutes from there to the central train station. The hotel itself is set just back from the river frontage in the old town area of Cologne where there are charming town squares, lots of traditional bars and too many restaurants to choose from! It felt very safe to walk around even at night time. The staff at Hotel Prevot are wonderful! They all spoke great English and made every effort to make us feel welcome. Special thanks must go to Nadine who was so lovely to us every time we Spoke with her and made us feel like valued friends not just guests. The room itself was spacious with a lovely modern bathroom and the beds were very comfortable even the sofa bed our daughter slept on. The mini bar/fridge and coffee machine are nice little extras.

  Disliked: Just a couple of things to note, the staff seem to shut the bar/restaurant early if it is not busy which meant we were unable to enjoy an evening drink at the hotel after our days out. We returned most evenings around 9.30pm. Also, there is no actual kettle or tea making facilities in the room just the coffee machine, probably only a downside for English visitors 😁

  Couldn’t have picked a better hotel

  Liked: The location was great! The staff was wonderful. The room had air conditioning large shower and comfortable bed
