  Great would stay there again

  Liked: Location was great. We wanted to be close to the Innenstadt and even though it was 3km out there was a bus stop 50 meters from the hotel

  Great location. Friendly Staff. Free Parking. 10 Minutes to Cologne City Centre

  Liked: We stayed in the apartments next door to the hotel which was a one bed with sofa bed and was very comfortable. Location was great for access to the City Centre. We did not use public transport, however, there is a bus stops less than a minute walk from the hotel which brings you to the City Centre and the buses runs frequently. We had a hire car so If you are driving then you can get to the City Centre (Lanxess Arena) in around 10 minutes. I am a smoker so the apartment with the balcony was great which allowed smoking on the balcony area. Local shops (Lidl) was around 2 minute drive away and parking outside the hotel is FREE of charge and on first come first served basis. If this parking is full then there is plenty of FREE parking nearby which is less than a minute walk. The staff here are extremely polite, helpful and welcoming. Overall, a really pleasant stay. Thank you to all the staff at The New Yorker Hotel, you all deserve a pay rise;)

  Disliked: The only criticism I can make is that the hotel could have provided a toaster in the room and larger coffee cups/mugs and glasses etc. Not enough cutlery/plates etc. Very basic and could be improved with very little costs etc.

  Been a regular in Cologne since 2009 and this is one of my favourite hotels!

  Liked: Location was handy for us (as it was a 20-min walk from Koelnmesse) but a bit out of the way more generally. The hotel was a real hidden gem though, beautifully put together and really well thought out; thoughtful, pleasant staff too.

  Disliked: Honestly, I loved most of it but the breakfast could have been a little more varied and adventurous. (Which would have better suited the hotel's approach elsewhere.)

  Comfortable hotel

  Liked: The public spaces were beautifully designed and presented and very welcoming. There is a lovely courtyard space for alfresco working/relaxing. The breakfast was good quality. The staff were charming and helpful. My room was well designed and had everything I required.

  Disliked: It was quite a way from the city centre and quite far from the exhibition centre. There was no restaurant in the hotel and not so many restaurants or public transport in the neighbourhood. My hot water tap was not working in my room, which did not really bother me. I reported it and was told that it would be fixed.

  Liked: Free parking, staff was wonderful. Bus stop right around the corner. The lobby looked very nice and I liked the weird-ass face statues. I liked the design elements in and around the rooms.

  Disliked: Blinds on the outside were broken and were knocking on the window because of the wind all night. Let the staff know at night but unfortunately the hotel was booked out so they couldn't give us another room. The kind guy who came over to check it out did say we could call him again and he would figure something out to tie the blinds down or something, but we felt bad about bothering him and it was 2am and we were tired, so we didn't. They gave us free breakfast in the morning to make up, which was a nice gesture but the breakfast was a little disappointing to be honest haha. Not a lot of variety. Coffee machine was broken and most items were gone/empty when we got there. After we grabbed our breakfast, things were restocked/refilled. Can just be bad timing of course, but it was just a bummer. Lights on the hallways were motion-detected, but lit up too slow for my taste, causing you to walk in the darkness for a bit before they spring on.
