Where to stay in Ceuta: the best areas

El Revellín and Plaza de los Reyes

Paseo del Revellín is Ceuta’s shopping street, with shops, cafés and bustle all day. Around it are Plaza de los Reyes and the central streets, where the restaurants are concentrated. If you want to walk almost everywhere and not depend on the bus, this is your place. It is also the liveliest area in the evening, when people come out for a stroll.

Plaza de África and the Royal Walls

On Plaza de África stand the cathedral and the sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de África, the city’s patron. Next to them rise the Royal Walls, with their navigable moat crossing the isthmus from sea to sea. It is the most monumental area and the favourite of first-time visitors. At night it is quiet, and the port is a stroll away.

Best-rated in this area: Oh Nice Revellin Ceuta, with a score of 7.6 from 1,591 reviews.

La Marina and the Parque Marítimo

Paseo de la Marina faces the port and leads to the Parque Marítimo del Mediterráneo, designed by César Manrique, with gardens and saltwater pools. Very close is the ferry terminal, where boats leave for Algeciras. Sleeping here suits you if you are arriving or leaving by boat, and if you are travelling with children because of the pools.

La Ribera beach is right next to the centre, in the shadow of the walls.

Monte Hacho and San Amaro

The Hacho peninsula closes off the city to the east. At the top is the fortress, and on the slope the hermitage of San Antonio, with views over the Strait and of Gibraltar on clear days. San Amaro park, with pines and paths, is on the way up. It is the greenest and quietest area, though with little accommodation.

The trip back to the centre is short by car, taxi or city bus.
