Where to stay in San Roque: the best areas

Old town

Historic San Roque, on top of the hill, has little accommodation but the best views over the bay and the Rock. From here you can walk to Santa María la Coronada, the Governors’ Palace and the Plaza de Armas. It is a quiet place to sleep.

Sotogrande and Guadiaro

On the municipality’s coast, Sotogrande, Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro and Torreguadiaro hold most of the beds, with a marina, golf courses and beaches. It is the area for beach holidays, but it is about 20 kilometres from the old town.

Algeciras and La Línea

Algeciras, with its port for Tangier and Ceuta, and La Línea, next to Gibraltar, have more choice and are a few minutes from the old town. The ruins of Carteia are at Guadarranque, on the way.
