  Home away from home in great yet discreet company

  Liked: We really enjoyed our stay at Merchant House and would choose it again when we are in the area. Everything was really great from the warm and sensitive welcome from Debs and Graham to the comfortable, beautiful and well appointed room and the myriad thoughtful and delightful touches all over this interesting and lovely house. The breakfast with its range of home made jams, fresh fruit salad and local artisan quality breads was really good. Simple but perfectly done.

  Disliked: There really is nothing we would change.

  Great hospitality and perfect for a short visit to the area

  Liked: Merchant House is in a lovely square of impressive houses. Arriving late at night for a flying visit I got a warm welcome, a comfortable night’s sleep and a nice breakfast. Everything I needed.

  A beautiful old terrace house with bags of character, tasteful decor and a wonderful host

  Liked: The breakfast was simple cereals toast etc but host Debs provided home made bread and marmalade so it exceeded our expectations.

  Lovely place and great hosts. Perfect alternative to a city stay

  Liked: Great location for the local concert venue, but would also be ideal for anyone wanting to visit Liverpool but not stay in a mainstream hotel and suffer city centre parking, as Bootle train station is only a few minutes walk and a couple of stops to Liverpool. Lovely room, really friendly and helpful hosts and great continental breakfast. Highly recommended!
