  Close to what I needed

  Liked: Convenient location, easy check-in.

  Disliked: Stairs are quite narrow and uneven (leaning to one side). Lots of noise from guests above and in the stairwells - walls are paper thin. Room is quite small but enough for a solo traveller. Cracked tile in room which was not mentioned after the room was booked. Shower took a long time to heat up. No fridge available in room despite being mentioned in the booking. No place to leave luggage, left unattended in hallway. Stored elsewhere for security reasons.

  Stay at City Inn Russell

  Liked: The apartment was well situated and clean.

  Disliked: I contacted the property to ask about dropping my luggage before check-in which they assured me would be fine and to go to Reception which was open from 11am to 5pm. However when I arrived around 11.30am Reception was closed. I sent an email but didn't receive a reply until hours later. I needed up leaving my suitcase in the hallway. They are obviously not checking emails throughout the day as I had another request sent via email that also took several hours to respond to. The handle on the wardrobe was missing and on one of the bathroom vanity doors.

  Awful place

  Liked: Don't be taken in with the photos of the rooms. Clearly taken many years ago.

  Disliked: Noisy, and very smelly of fast food and drains.

Good to know

Guests should be aware that there are no elevators at the City Inn and access to the rooms is by stairs only. If you expect to arrive after 18.00, please inform the hotel in advance. Also, this is a self check-in hotel. The reception is not running 24 hours. All guests will receive pre-arrival registration link to fill with photo ID prior completing the online registration all guests will receive self check-in instructions 3 days prior to arrival. The hotel has a self check-in system. The property will contact you in advance with instructions.
