  overall, enjoyed my stay - excellent location and friendly staff - well heated and secure room

  Liked: location, friendly staff, 24 hour front desk, asked for ground floor and was accomodated

  Disliked: matress too soft, bedding could do with renewal

  An Evening's Stay

  Liked: Great location, only a 5 minute walk from KGX and very easy to find. The room was tidy and clean, the price was good for what it was and considering the location, very cheap and cheerful as they say. A few nice basic necessities and plenty of room to put bags/hang up clothing.

  Disliked: The room I was in (probably a bad location being under the entrance and right next to the kitchen) was incredibly noisy for some of the night, and most of the early morning. The walls really didn't block out any sound at all. Fine for a one night stay, but on the amount of sleep I had I would struggle to stay there longer. The bathroom was a little cramped but it did the job.

  Great Location, Friendly Staff, but needs work on pest control

  Liked: This is a very good location near King's Cross. The Staff are friendly. The area around the hotel feels safe.

  Disliked: I had bed bugs in both rooms I stayed in. I had bites and saw a dead bed bug in the first room. I moved rooms; however, there were also bed bugs there. I have now had to spend the last 3 days throwing out my belongings and freezing/tumble-drying the rest. Bed bugs can happen anywhere, but they happened to me at this hotel, and it has cost me hundreds of pounds in lost goods that had to be binned, bed bug treatment for bags that I kept, energy costs to run the dryer on hot for hours at a time...

  Location ok, room left much to be desired

  Liked: Close to Kings Cross which was our main requirement

  Disliked: The room was too small to be classed as a triple, it was in the basement and there was a terrible smell of drains.

  Great location but otherwise a bit dissapointing

  Liked: The staff was friendly and it gave the feel of a family-operated business. The location is absolutely amazing which together with the low-ish price is the main value of Elmwood. They do offer luggage storage upon request.

  Disliked: The facilities are quite old and it does kind of feel like you are staying at your grandma´s old rackety place that has seen better days. Thankfully, I´m quite petite or I would have had trouble fitting into the bed or the bathroom, which were both exceptionally small. While I did appriciate the 24/7 reception, having to leave the key whenever I went out felt a bit uncomfortable and not having an option to lock your room from the inside also didn´t exactly make me feel safe. The TV didn´t work and the wifi was extremely unreliable so I ended up using the next door Gyle guest wifi (which was great!) from the first night on.

  Liked: Had everything we needed.

  Disliked: The people upstairs were incredibly noisy the whole stay from 6.55am all the way through till past bedtime. It sounded like they were moving furniture or something and the banging was ridiculous.
