AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST. SEE REVIEWS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS
Liked: AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST. SEE REVIEWS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS I was completely stranded in Glasgow due to total rail network closures caused by a storm. Despite this being a clear force majeure situation that made it physically impossible to travel, both Mercure London Earls Court and Booking.com refused to help, instead trapping me in a classic customer service deadlock. The Hotel’s Failure: Mercure’s automated phone lines completely block third-party bookings from contacting them to discuss refund, directing you back to the third party agent (booking.com). When I finally reached the hotel, the management explicitly refused to authorize a refund or even a simple date change, showing zero empathy for an act of God. They happily pocketed money for a booking they knew it was impossible for me to physically reach. Booking.com’s Failure: Booking.com proved they have absolutely no internal policy framework to protect consumers during national weather disasters. Their support teams act merely as messengers/agents. When the hotel said no, Booking.com washed their hands of the situation entirely, offering zero consumer safety net. If you use this platform or book this hotel, be warned: if severe weather cancels your transport, you will lose your money with zero support from either side.
