  Liked: Although the hotel was generally good, we were disappointed with the level of service and communication. For three days prior to our arrival, we repeatedly tried to contact the hotel for assistance with our transfer and clarification regarding our room. We never received a response, not even by the time we arrived, so we had to arrange our transfer ourselves. At check-out, we were asked to pay for breakfast, which admittedly was not included in our reservation, although we had assumed otherwise. The issue was not the charge itself, but the fact that nobody informed us about it, either at check-in or on any of the mornings we had breakfast. Furthermore, despite having requested an invoice when making our reservation and reminding the staff again at check-out, it was missing from the envelope of documents we were given. We only realised this after getting into our transfer vehicle and fortunately were still close enough to return. Unfortunately, even the invoice we eventually received contained incorrect details, but we were in too much of a hurry to request yet another correction. Two members of staff, however, deserve special recognition: the young gentleman who assisted us with our luggage upon arrival, whose name unfortunately escapes us, and Maria. Both were exceptionally polite, helpful and willing to assist with any information we needed. While these may seem like minor incidents individually, together they significantly affected our overall experience. From a hotel of this standard, we expected much greater attention to communication, service and detail. It is a shame, as our stay was otherwise pleasant.

  Very good hotel. Would recommend

  Liked: The breakfast was great. And the location was good. The hotel was lovely. And the staff very accommodating.

  Disliked: The only thing I didn't like was the air conditioning. I couldn't turn it off. It was blowing out hot air. And the weather was hot. In fairness, they came up straight away to fix it. It just took a while to cool down. Maybe I should have rung earlier.

  Liked: This is our second time staying at The Trafalgar St James. The location of this hotel is unbeatable. You can walk to almost all of the major attractions in London and the rest are only a short taxi or bus ride away. The breakfast included in our stay while not extensive, was very good quality. The free water, Coca Cola and Nespresso coffee available and topped up daily in our room was very much welcomed. The rooms are well sized and very comfortable. We were particularly thankful to the staff, especially Fred, Denisa and Mihai who arranged for an item to be posted back to us in Australia that we had accidentally left in the room after checkout.

  Disliked: Unfortunately the rooftop bar was closed for renovation during our stay, but we look forward to returning to seeing how it turned out the next time we are in London.
