Pleasant
Horrible experience as I was left on the street with kids at night
Liked: We were left out on the street and didn’t manage to access the property at all and paid for something I never got
Disliked: Never got access to the property
SCAM. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Dirty, disorganized, and designed to steal your £250 deposit through lies
Liked: The "Positives" Absolutely nothing. BOOKING FROM HELL. The only bright spot was a friendly cat who wandered into the garden. I'm fairly certain he was warning us to get the hell out. The Scam, Summarized £250 deposit demanded after booking—not listed in the property policies, sprung on you to unlock the door Arrived well after 6pm check-in to find the place filthy from previous guests—spoiling food in the fridge, stained and burned carpets, hairs in the bedsheets No one answered calls. We genuinely wondered if we'd been double-booked. Loud train ensures you won't sleep even if the conditions didn't already guarantee it Deposit withheld with fabricated excuses—first "Monday," then "another team member," then a conveniently invented noise complaint Booking.com refused to intervene and told me "that's just how it is" What I'm Doing About It I have filed a credit card dispute and begun formal complaints against both the host and the platform. I urge anyone who encounters this property—or anything like it—to do the same. Document everything. Screenshot every message. Trust nothing this host says. Final Verdict This is the worst experience I have ever had on Booking.com. The host is running a deposit scam. The property is disgusting. The platform refuses to protect its customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Photos are how how the property was upon arrival and even after it was "cleaned" and yes I communicated and sent photos to the host. The Bottom Line This isn't a budget stay—it's a bait-and-switch operation dressed up as hospitality. The communication was evasive, the organisation non-existent, and the entire experience was designed to extract maximum money for minimum effort. Avoid this property. Document everything. Pay nothing outside the platform. And understand that Booking.com will not protect you.
Disliked: A Masterclass in Exploitation: Avoid at All Costs Do not be fooled by the bargain price—this listing is a trap designed to extract money through a predatory deposit scheme. What begins as an affordable stay quickly reveals itself as a calculated grift. The host demands a £250 security deposit before releasing the keylock code, holding you hostage to access a property you've already booked. And good luck getting it back—they conveniently mention the refund timeline after they have your money. The Deposit Scam We were told the deposit would be returned upon checkout. Lie. Then it was Monday, when "their team" handles deposits. Lie. I checked in daily. Every inquiry was met with a new excuse and a promise that "another team member" would look into it. Then, after days of stalling, the host became desperate and fabricated a noise complaint to justify withholding the deposit entirely. This is not disorganization. This is a deliberate scheme to steal your money. The "Check-In" Experience We arrived to find the property unlocked, unoccupied, and filthy—apparently double-booked. Despite notifying the host we'd be on our way 5pm for the 6pm checkin, we didn't actually get there until 7pm. What followed? An additional hour of waiting outside in scorching heat, being eaten alive by ants, while a cleaner scrambled to make the place habitable. Spoiler: they failed. The State of the Property Bedsheets with visible hairs Rotting food left in the fridge Carpet covered in stains and burn marks so vile I refused to remove my socks Bathroom reeking of something unidentifiable Train line close enough to rattle your teeth—bring industrial-grade noise cancellation Three guests. None of us slept properly. We brought our own rubbish bags and packed out every scrap of our waste—terrified they'd manufacture an excuse to keep that extortionate deposit. They did anyway. Booking.com's Response Silence. I filed complaints. I escalated.
The smell and uncleanliness made me feel very uncomfortable. I didn’t end up entering the property until very late as I
Liked: The bed was clean and comfortable
Disliked: Excessive damage deposit, still not returned. Check out was yesterday at 10am. I found the property unclean, it had a bad smell. The carpets were all stained and even an iron burn mark. The back garden is completely overgrown. Something unrecognisable and filthy on the outside of the kitchen window. The front garden had rubbish in it and what sounded like rats moving about all night.
Very pleasant stay
Liked: Great location and excellent value for money
Disliked: When we entered the property the beds were not made and there was dirty laundry on the floor. It is true that we booked the property last minute. No one answered when we called the two emergency numbers provided. Apart from that the stay was ok.
Truly awful - don’t be tempted by the low cost, it’s a proper scam!
Liked: Truly terrible!
Disliked: Cancelled last minute (after a six hour drive). We looked inside and it looks squalid so I suppose we can be grateful, but it did leave us with a last minute expensive problem. They also messaged us asking for a large deposit which we transferred and they took a long time and with intervention from Booking (it was a long and complicated business) to return it. Avoid at all costs!
