What the Costa Blanca is like
The Costa Blanca is the coastline of Alicante, more than 200 km from Dénia to Pilar de la Horadada. In the north it has coves between cliffs and the Montgó mountain; in the south, long sandy beaches and dunes.
Which town to choose
Benidorm has the most choice and life all year round. Altea, Calpe, Moraira and Jávea are quieter, with coves and an old town or a rock to walk around, and Dénia has ferries to Ibiza. Alicante is the city base, and to the south are Santa Pola, Guardamar and Torrevieja, with long beaches and lower prices.
When to go
July and August are the busiest months, and in winter there are many long-stay visitors thanks to the mild climate. Easter and the Hogueras de San Juan in Alicante also fill the coast.
Getting around
Alicante-Elche airport is the main gateway. The TRAM links Alicante with Benidorm and Dénia, and there are buses along the coast, although a car helps for reaching the coves.
