El Arenal

El Arenal is Xàbia's fine-sand beach, with shallow water and a promenade full of restaurants, ice-cream parlours and bars. Children can swim safely and at night the atmosphere lasts until late. On summer weekends it gets crowded.

It suits families and anyone who wants to walk down to the beach with a towel over their shoulder. There are lots of apartments and villas to rent in the area.

Best-rated in this area: Los Bungalows Del Arenal, with a score of 8.5 from 1,040 reviews.

The harbour or Duanes de la Mar

The harbour district, known as Duanes de la Mar, keeps its seafaring feel. Here are the fish market, the boat-shaped church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto and La Grava pebble beach. There are rice and fish restaurants on the streets near the quay.

Boat trips to the coves leave from the harbour and, at the other end, the promenade connects with El Muntanyar beach. To the north is Cap de Sant Antoni, with its lighthouse and the old windmills of La Plana.

Old town

The old village lies inland, around the fortified church of San Bartolomé and the municipal market. It has narrow streets with sandstone façades and wrought-iron grilles. It is everyday Xàbia, with shops and local bars, and very pleasant out of season. You will go to the beach by car or local bus.

Best-rated in this area: Casa Valentina, with a score of 9.1 from 392 reviews.

Cap de la Nau and La Granadella

To the south, among pine woods and cliffs, are developments of villas with sea views. From here you are close to Cap de la Nau, the Portitxol with Cala Barraca and La Granadella cove. It is the option for anyone looking for calm and snorkelling in clear water, always with a car. The roads are narrow and winding, and Montgó natural park is on the other side of town.
