The centre and Carrer la Mar beach

Carrer la Mar beach, in front of the town centre, has a seafront promenade, terraces and rice restaurants on the front. At the northern end of the promenade are the fishing port, the Illeta dels Banyets and its watchtower. Alicante TRAM stops are a few steps away, with lines towards Alicante and Benidorm. It is the most complete area for getting around without a car. At night the promenade is where the town’s life is, with places open late in summer. The Illeta archaeological site is easy to visit and sits beside the port.

Muchavista

Muchavista is the long sandy beach to the south, which runs without a break into Alicante’s San Juan beach. Behind it are apartment blocks, developments and a few restaurants. It is a quiet, family area, with room on the sand even in high season. The TRAM also links it with Alicante. It appeals to families and to those after long beach days, with Alicante and its centre close by for an afternoon of shopping or tapas.

The north coast and its coves

Past the port, the coast turns rocky and full of small coves, including Lanuza and Coveta Fumà, surrounded by developments of low-rise houses. The water is clear and there are good places to snorkel. The feel is residential and quiet. A car is handy for shopping and going out to dinner, although the tram also runs along this part of the coast. It is the area for couples and anyone looking for calm, with the sea nearly always crystal clear.

Towards Alicante and Benidorm

El Campello sits between Alicante and the Marina Baixa, and that position is its great asset. On the TRAM you reach Alicante without hunting for parking, and line 1 continues to Villajoyosa and Benidorm. That makes it a convenient base for combining beach and city, or trips to Busot and its Canelobre Caves, better by car.
