Centre and Playa del Centro

Guardamar’s town centre rests against the pine woods, with the Reina Sofía and Alfonso XIII parks between the houses and the sea. Sleeping in the centre puts Playa del Centro, the terraces on the main street and the Archaeological Museum within walking distance. It is the part with the most year-round services and the easiest to get around without a car, even with young children.

Babilonia and the mouth of the Segura

North of the centre is Babilonia beach, known for its old summer houses built almost on the sand. Beyond it you reach the mouth of the river Segura and the Marina de las Dunas harbour. It is a quiet area, good for walks along the riverbank and bike rides. From here the promenade takes you back to the centre in no time. Bear in mind there are fewer restaurants open here outside summer.

El Moncayo and Los Viveros

To the south, the coast opens out into long beaches with dunes and pines, such as El Moncayo, Los Viveros or Les Ortigues. Apartments and low-rise seafront buildings predominate here. It is the part preferred by families spending one or two weeks at the beach who don’t need to go out every night. The streets are wide and it is easy to park nearby. Paths through the pine woods lead to the centre on foot or by bike.

Inland housing estates

Behind the town and along the road to Rojales are estates of villas and townhouses, many with communal pools. They take you away from the beach, but you gain space and silence, valued by groups and winter visitors. With a car you quickly reach Torrevieja, Elche or the Vega Baja market gardens.
