Old town

The old town sits on the headland between the two big beaches. At the top is the Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint, on the site of the old castle, and next to it the church of San Jaime and Santa Ana. Its streets, such as Calle Santo Domingo, are packed with tapas bars and restaurants. It is the most practical area if you want to get around on foot and have both beaches close by, with the Mal Pas cove right below.

Levante beach

Levante is Benidorm's best-known beach, with a promenade full of terraces and bars. It is the favourite area for those after atmosphere, day and night, and for groups of friends. Stay at the end nearest the old town and you will have the centre close by as well. The further east you go, the taller the buildings and the longer the walk to the tapas streets.

Rincón de Loix

At the end of Levante, at the foot of the Sierra Helada, is the Rincón de Loix. It is a very lively area, with pubs and bars aimed mainly at British visitors. Worth it if you want to party or like an international atmosphere. If you prefer nature, walking trails into the Sierra Helada natural park start here, with great views over the whole bay.

Poniente beach

Poniente is longer and less crowded than Levante, with a wide, modern promenade. The atmosphere is more family-oriented and quieter, with lots of apartments. It suits families with children and long stays where you want to rest without noise.

To get around, the Alicante TRAM stops in Benidorm, with line 1 to Alicante and line 9 to Dénia, and there is a good network of city buses.
