Centre and El Cura beach

The centre of Torrevieja is built around the church of La Inmaculada, Plaza de la ConstituciΓ³n and the Eras de la Sal. From here you can walk to the port, where you can visit the DelfΓn submarine, and to El Cura beach, small and very busy. It is the area with the most shops, bars and evening life, also out of season. The bus station is here too, useful if you arrive without a car from Alicante or the airport.

Vista Alegre promenade and Los Locos

To the north, the Vista Alegre promenade follows the coast past rocky coves to Los Locos beach. It is a very pleasant stretch for a walk at any time, with viewpoints and steps down to the rocks, and it is within walking distance of the centre. It suits you if you want a sandy beach with the town close at hand, without being on the main shopping street.

Best-rated in this area: Ona Aldea del Mar, with a score of 8.9 from 1,279 reviews.

La Mata

La Mata, at the northern end of the municipality, has a long, open beach, with dunes at the far end and the La Mata lagoon behind. It has a village feel, with its own promenade and terraces. It is a common choice for families and for anyone who wants to walk around the lagoons or watch birds. To get to the centre of Torrevieja a car or the town bus will come in handy.

AcequiΓ³n and the southern beaches

South of the port are AcequiΓ³n and Los NΓ‘ufragos beaches, and beyond them the coast continues towards Punta Prima. It is an area of apartment blocks and residential streets, with a wide beach and less bustle than the centre. The road to Cartagena is close, handy if you want to spend a day in Cartagena or Elche. This part appeals to people staying for long periods who prefer easy shopping and parking.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Madrid, with a score of 8.0 from 3,261 reviews.
