What is Sant Antoni?

Sant Antoni is the Eixample district around the Mercat de Sant Antoni, an iron market from 1882 that reopened in 2018 after a long renovation. On Sunday mornings it hosts a market of second-hand books, comics and trading cards, and the surrounding streets, such as Parlament and Comte Borrell, are full of cafés, vermouth bars and restaurants.

Getting around from here

Sant Antoni (line 2) is next to the market, Universitat (1 and 2) five minutes away and Poble Sec (line 3) across the Ronda. Las Ramblas and the Raval are ten minutes’ walk away, and Plaça d’Espanya fifteen.

When rooms are hardest to find

During congress weeks at the Fira, especially the Mobile World Congress, and in summer. In January, the Sant Antoni festival and the Tres Tombs parade, with carriages and horses, fill the district’s streets.
