For the Greeks, Delphi was the centre of the world, the navel marked by the omphalos. On the slopes of Parnassus you climb the Sacred Way past the treasuries of the city-states to the Temple of Apollo, where the Pythia gave her oracles, the theatre and the stadium at the top.
