What to see in Preveza
Must-sees
Preveza is a fishing town at the mouth of the Ambracian Gulf, with a taverna-lined seafront, an old quarter of narrow lanes and the Venetian fortress of St Andrew. Next to the town are the ruins of Nicopolis, the city founded by Augustus after the Battle of Actium.
To the north there are long beaches such as Monolithi, and within an hour’s drive are Parga, Lefkada and the River Acheron, which the ancients believed was the entrance to Hades.
