What to see in Milos

Must-sees

Milos is a volcanic island with otherworldly landscapes: the white rocks of Sarakiniko, the coloured cliffs of Firiplaka and Tsigrado, and the sea cave of Kleftiko, reached only by boat. It has more than seventy beaches, more than any other Cycladic island.

Up on the hill are the villages of Plaka and Trypiti, with the castle and the early Christian catacombs, and below them the Roman theatre and the spot where the Venus de Milo was found. Klima and Mandrakia are fishing hamlets with painted houses right on the water.

Free tours and guided visits

Milos has boat trips around the island to Kleftiko, kayak outings through the caves and guided visits to the villages and the mines.

How long to spend

Three days let you see Plaka, Sarakiniko and Klima and do the boat trip. Without a car or scooter many beaches are hard to reach.

Where to stay

Adamas is the most practical base for the port and car hire. Plaka has the best views and Pollonia is quieter.
