Historic centre and Saint-Pierre
Between Place de la Bourse, the Grand Théâtre and the cathedral there are hotels in 18th-century stone buildings, from small charming places to upmarket hotels. Everything is within walking distance, including the Garonne quays, the shopping streets and the restaurants of Saint-Pierre. It is the most convenient area for a first visit.
Chartrons
The old wine merchants’ quarter, north of the centre, offers boutique hotels, apartments and guesthouses on quieter streets. Antique shops, cafés and markets are nearby, and the Cité du Vin is a walk along the quay or a few tram stops away.
Saint-Michel and Saint-Jean station
To the south, the Saint-Michel quarter has simple accommodation and apartments with a market atmosphere. Around Saint-Jean station there are plenty of chain hotels, practical if you arrive by train or are heading out on trips, with a direct tram to the centre.
La Bastide
On the right bank of the Garonne, across the Pont de Pierre, there are modern hotels and apartments, with the Botanical Garden nearby and views of the quays. The tram takes you to the centre in a few minutes and parking is usually easier.
