What is Gros?

Gros is the San Sebastián district across the river Urumea, next to Zurriola beach, the surfers’ beach, and the Kursaal. It has some of the city’s best-known pintxo bars and more of a neighbourhood feel than the centre.

Getting around from here

Donostia Renfe station is on the edge of the district, with the bus station next to it. The Old Town and the Boulevard are about five minutes’ walk away across the Kursaal bridge.

During Big Week in August, the Jazzaldia in July and the Film Festival in September, when San Sebastián fills up and prices soar; in summer you need to book well ahead.
