Staying near Triana: what you need to know
What is Triana?
Triana is the neighbourhood of Seville across the Guadalquivir, linked to the centre by the Isabel II bridge, known as the Triana bridge. It is the home of potters, sailors and flamenco: its tile workshops, Calle Betis overlooking the river, the Triana Market over the ruins of San Jorge castle and the chapel of the Esperanza de Triana give it its unmistakable character.
How to get there
Plaza de Cuba (metro line 1) is at the southern entrance to the neighbourhood, and across the Triana bridge you can walk to El Arenal and the bullring in five minutes and to the Cathedral in about 15. Line 1 goes to Puerta de Jerez and to San Bernardo, which has Cercanías trains.
When rooms are hardest to find
During Holy Week and the April Fair, when the whole of Seville fills up and prices multiply: the fairground is right next door, in Los Remedios. In July, the Velá de Santiago y Santa Ana fills Calle Betis with stalls.
Which area to choose
There are riverside hotels with views of the Torre del Oro and the Giralda, mid-sized hotels and plenty of holiday apartments in the streets behind. It is a lively area, but quieter at night than the centre. This page looks up to 800 metres from Calle Betis.
