Staying near the Santa Cruz quarter: what you need to know
What is the Santa Cruz quarter?
Santa Cruz is Seville’s old Jewish quarter, a maze of whitewashed alleys, patios and small squares, such as Plaza de Doña Elvira or Plaza de Santa Cruz, right next to the Royal Alcázar and the Murillo Gardens. It is the most visited neighbourhood in the city, with the Cathedral just steps away.
How to get there
The tram stops at Archivo de Indias, at the entrance to the quarter, and Puerta de Jerez and Prado de San Sebastián (metro line 1) are about ten minutes’ walk away. Santa Justa, the high-speed train station, is about 20 minutes by bus or taxi; cars can’t get into the alleys.
When rooms are hardest to find
During Holy Week and the April Fair, when the whole of Seville fills up and prices multiply. Also in spring and autumn, at Christmas and on long weekends.
Which area to choose
There are charming hotels in traditional Sevillian houses with patios, guesthouses and holiday apartments. The alleys are narrow and some places can’t be reached by car, so it is worth asking. This page looks up to 500 metres from the middle of the quarter.
If you’d rather be in the old town, see the hotels in Seville city centre or our guide to the best areas to stay in Seville.
