Fira and Firostefani
On the caldera rim in the main town there are cave-house hotels with pools and volcano views, and cheaper ones away from the edge. It is the best base without a car.
Imerovigli
Just north of Fira, at the highest point of the caldera, are the quietest luxury hotels, with terraces and infinity pools.
Kamari and Perissa
On the east coast, by the black-sand beaches, there are beach hotels and apartments for much less, twenty minutes by bus from Fira.
