Monastrell wineries, a castle and a sanctuary on the Murcian high plateau.

Where to stay in Jumilla: the best areas

Jumilla centre

The centre, between the main church of Santiago, the Teatro Vico and the gardens, is where the town's few hotels and most of its restaurants are. From here you can walk up to the castle along the Subidor path and visit the Jerónimo Molina museum. At night there's life in the streets near the square.

Wineries and Jumilla countryside

Wine tourism is the main reason to come: several wineries of the appellation and rural houses among monastrell vineyards offer accommodation in the countryside. You'll need a car, and it's worth checking whether the house serves dinner.

Santa Ana del Monte

South of town, the monastery of Santa Ana and its surrounding pine wood make a half-day trip together with the Coimbra del Barranco Ancho archaeological site. There's no accommodation there: you go from the centre. If Jumilla is full, Yecla is twenty minutes away.
