Centre and promenade
The centre of Los Alcázares stretches along the shore of the Mar Menor. The promenade links several town beaches, such as La Concha and El Espejo, and in the water you will see the balnearios, the wooden piers typical of this coast. Behind are bars, ice-cream parlours, terraces and shops.
The water is barely knee-deep at the shore and there are hardly any waves, which is why families with young children prefer to stay here: you walk down to the beach, have lunch and come back without taking the car. In summer the promenade is lively until late.

Los Narejos
North of the centre, Los Narejos continues the seafront towards San Javier. It has its own beach, a seaside promenade and a more residential feel, with lots of holiday apartments.
It suits you if you want a long beach stay and prefer a little more calm than the centre, which is a stroll along the shore away. Sailing and windsurfing schools make the most of the Mar Menor’s calm water all along this area.

Developments and golf courses
Inland, away from the sea, there are developments with communal pools and golf courses, such as Serena Golf. They are areas of spacious houses and apartments, very quiet, where many foreign residents spend long periods. Here a car is necessary to get to the beach and the supermarket, but you have more space and less bustle in August.
Santiago de la Ribera
Following the coast north you reach Santiago de la Ribera, in the municipality of San Javier. It has a long promenade, balnearios and the Spanish Air Force Academy next door.
