Sleeping in the old town puts you in the middle of the town’s life. A stone’s throw away are Plaza Euskal Herria, the church of Santa María, Plaza Berdura and the Tinglado by the Oria, where the Saturday market is held. Kale Nagusia and Korreo streets are full of bars for snacks and pastry shops.

The newer town and the station

Outside the old town, the newer streets have more modern buildings, shops and easier parking. Renfe commuter trains leave the station for Donostia, making Tolosa a convenient base for visiting the coast without driving.

The A-1 motorway also passes the town, so it works if you are driving towards Vitoria or Pamplona.

Ibarra, Irura and Anoeta

The towns adjoining Tolosa along the Oria valley form an almost continuous built-up area. They offer holiday flats and simple places to stay a short distance from the centre, some with their own commuter stations. They are an alternative when the old town is full, for example at carnival. There is also usually more room to park on the street.

On the slopes around the town there are farmhouses and farm stays among meadows and woods.
