Upper village and San Roque

The upper part of Lastres, around the San Roque chapel and viewpoint, has the widest views over the harbour and the Sierra del Sueve. At night, once the day trippers leave, it is calm. Bear in mind that the slopes are steep and cars are usually left in the car parks at the top.

The harbour and the church streets

Down by the quays are the fish and seafood restaurants and everyday seafaring life. Staying in the streets running down from the parish church puts you a step from the terraces and the boats. It is the area for those who want to eat lunch and dinner without relying on the car.

Going up and down with luggage is hard work, so ask about access before booking.

La Griega and the Jurassic Museum

Between Lastres and Colunga, La Griega is the area's big family beach, with sand, a river and space. On the cliff of the San Telmo coastal plateau is the MUJA, the dinosaur museum. This area has apartments and houses with gardens, comfortable for families with children combining swimming and the museum.

Colunga

Colunga, the municipal capital, is a few kilometres inland, beside the Cantabrian motorway. It has supermarkets, pharmacies and more accommodation than Lastres, with the fishing village a short drive away. It suits those touring eastern Asturias by car who want quick access to Ribadesella, Villaviciosa or the Fito viewpoint.

Luces and the lighthouse

East of the village, the hamlet of Luces surrounds the Lastres lighthouse, among meadows and cliffs. It is the most rural and silent option, with country houses and open sea views. From here you reach Lastres harbour on a short road trip without passing through any large town.
