La Concha and the centre
Suances is split between the harbour, on the estuary bank, and the district running down to La Concha beach. Here are the bars, terraces and grocery shops, so you can spend the day without moving the car. It is the convenient option for families with young children, because the sand is a few steps away and summer evenings go on late.
By the harbour are fish restaurants and a waterside walk. At La Ribera, the sandy beach sheltered by the estuary, the water barely moves, which appeals to those after a calm swim or a kayak paddle.
Los Locos and El Faro
The upper part of the village faces the open sea. From around the lighthouse you can see the cliffs and Los Locos beach, the one with the most waves and where the surf schools work. From here your board is close at hand and the views of the Cantabrian Sea are wide. In return, the centre is downhill and the walk back is tiring, especially at night or with pushchairs.

Tagle, Cortiguera and Hinojedo
The municipality includes several villages with plenty of rural houses and apartments with gardens. Tagle, to the west, has its own beach and a much calmer atmosphere than the town. Cortiguera and Hinojedo, inland and towards the estuary, suit those who prefer to sleep surrounded by meadows and do not mind driving a few minutes to the beach.
From these villages you quickly reach Santillana del Mar and the Altamira Neocave, as well as Torrelavega, the nearest big town. A car is essential here, as public transport is scarce.
