At the foot of the cable car there is only the parador and the odd mountain hotel, with views of the Picos rock faces. Sleeping here lets you catch the first cabin, before the summer queues, and be up at the Mirador del Cable with few people around.

Espinama and Pido

These are the villages closest to the cable car, a few kilometres away, with mountain hotels, inns and stone rural houses. They have restaurants serving cocido lebaniego, the local stew, and are a good base for walking towards Áliva and the high pastures.
