What is the central station?
It is Munich’s main station, west of the old town, with trains to Salzburg, Vienna, Füssen for Neuschwanstein and the rest of Germany.
Getting around from here
Marienplatz is two S-Bahn stops or 15 minutes on foot, and the Oktoberfest grounds at the Theresienwiese ten minutes’ walk. The S-Bahn reaches the airport in about 40 minutes.

Which area to choose
Around the station there are many mid-range chain hotels, especially to the south in Ludwigsvorstadt. It is the most practical base for day trips by train.
