Where to stay in Perugia: the best areas
Historic centre
Around Corso Vannucci and Piazza IV Novembre there are hotels in old palazzi, guesthouses and apartments. The National Gallery, the cathedral and the Rocca Paolina are on foot, although the streets are steep and cars stay outside.
Borgo XX Giugno and San Pietro
South of the centre, the street leading to the basilica of San Pietro has quieter places to stay, some with gardens or views over the valley. Corso Vannucci is a walk uphill.
Fontivegge and the station
In the lower town, next to the railway station, there are modern, practical hotels with parking. The Minimetrò goes up to the centre in a few minutes.
Countryside and Lake Trasimeno
Outside the city there are agriturismi and farmhouses among olive groves, and to the west villages on Lake Trasimeno with holiday accommodation. You will need a car.
