Plaza de España is the centre of everything in Tomelloso. Here stand the arcaded Posada de los Portales and the parish church of La Asunción. From here run the shopping streets with shops, cafés and bars serving generous tapas. Staying around here lets you walk to the museums and the wine caves open to visitors, scattered around the town.

The town is flat with straight streets, so walking is easy even in the heat. If you are coming to taste wine or see the town of Inspector Plinio, this area saves you the car for your whole stay. Bear in mind the bars liven up mainly at weekends, when there is more street noise at night.

Residential districts and avenues

Around the centre spread districts of low houses and blocks, with wide avenues, parks and local shops. They are quiet areas, where street parking is easier to find than near the square. From here the centre is a stroll away, and they suit work trips or family visits lasting several days.

Town entrances and vineyards

On the roads out of town, by the access roads and the Viñedos motorway, there are places aimed at those arriving by car and moving on. Beyond, the vineyards begin, with wineries and the dry-stone bombos that dot the La Mancha landscape. Choosing this part makes sense if you will visit local wineries or spend the day at the Lagunas de Ruidera. Tomelloso has no passenger trains, so you will arrive by road, and having the car near your room makes early starts much easier.
