Hotels in El Toboso

Dulcinea's village, with its house museum and convents of La Mancha.

Where to stay in El Toboso: the best areas

Around Dulcinea's House

El Toboso is small, and almost everything worth seeing is in a few streets around the church square. If you stay in this core, the Casa-Museo de Dulcinea, the sculpture of Don Quixote and Dulcinea and the Museo Cervantino are a short walk away. You can see the museums in the morning, have lunch in the village and go back to rest without the car.

Accommodation is limited to rural houses and small places, many in La Mancha houses with courtyards and stone doorways. At dusk, when the groups leave, the square belongs to the locals and the few travellers staying the night. Book ahead if your visit falls on a long weekend.

Convent streets

A little further from the centre are the streets around the Trinitarian convent and other religious buildings, with low whitewashed houses and very little traffic. At night the silence is almost total, and from several spots you can see the tower of San Antonio Abad silhouetted. It suits couples and those coming to read or rest rather than to find nightlife. The bars and places to eat are in the centre, a few minutes' walk away.

Edge of the village

At the entrances to El Toboso, towards the roads to Quintanar de la Orden, Mota del Cuervo and Miguel Esteban, there are houses with courtyards or space for the car. It's the convenient option if you're touring the area by car, travelling with family or bringing bikes, and the centre is a few streets away.

Neighbouring towns on the route

If you want more variety, Quintanar de la Orden is a bigger town with more shops and restaurants. Mota del Cuervo, just over the border in Cuenca province, has its own ridge of windmills above the town and is a good place to sleep between El Toboso and Belmonte. Campo de Criptana and Alcázar de San Juan complete the route to the south.
