Where to stay in Albacete: the best areas

Altozano and Calle Ancha

Plaza del Altozano is the heart of Albacete and the point from which almost everything radiates. Very close are the Pasaje de Lodares, a covered shopping arcade of glass and iron, and Calle Ancha, the city’s main shopping and strolling street. As Albacete is flat, you can walk round the centre from here with no effort.

This area suits first-time visitors or those just stopping for a night on the way to the coast. There are tapas bars, cafés and restaurants round every corner.

Around the cathedral

Around the cathedral of San Juan Bautista and Plaza de la Virgen Blanca the feel is a little more residential, but you are still a few steps from the Altozano. It is a good spot if you want to visit the Municipal Cutlery Museum, in the Casa del Hortelano, and wander the shopping streets without the bustle under your window.

Abelardo Sánchez park and the Feria

The great green lung of the centre is Abelardo Sánchez park, surrounded by streets with plenty of restaurants. Very close is the Paseo de la Feria, leading to the fairground with its unusual circular shape. This area appeals to families and anyone who wants a morning run or walk without leaving the centre.

Best-rated in this area: Sercotel Los Llanos, with a score of 8.7 from 2,073 reviews.

The station and Campollano

Albacete-Los Llanos station receives the high-speed trains and sits on the edge of the centre, with the bus station nearby. Sleeping here saves you hauling your case and lets you leave early. If you are coming for work, the Campollano business park, to the north by the motorway, has many companies and is easy to reach by car.
