Where to stay in Molina de Aragón: the best areas

Centre and banks of the Gallo

Molina's centre stretches along the Gallo river, with the Plaza de España, the shopping streets and the medieval bridge across the river. It is the part with the most services: bars, shops, restaurants and noble houses with coats of arms on their façades. If you stay here, you have everything on foot and can walk up to the castle.

It appeals to those travelling at an easy pace who want to eat out and get around on foot. It is a quiet town, at night too, and the riverside walks are pleasant on summer evenings. Bring warm clothes almost all year, as the area is one of the coldest in the Peninsula.

Best-rated in this area: Apartamentos El Cid, with a score of 9.5 from 45 reviews.

Below the castle

The streets climbing to the fortress keep their old layout, and nearby is the Romanesque church of Santa Clara. Staying in this part puts you a few steps from the walled enclosure and the Torre de Aragón, with views over the rooftops and the valley. There are more slopes and less parking, but the atmosphere is more historic and quieter.

Approaches along the N-211

The N-211 road comes from Alcolea del Pinar and passes Molina on its way to Aragón. At the approaches there are roadside places to stay and houses with parking, useful if you are passing through or making day trips around the area. From there you can drive to the centre in a moment. They are practical for an overnight stop on the way to Teruel or the Mediterranean coast, or for an early start towards the natural park.

Towards the Alto Tajo

If your plan is nature, the villages on the way to the Alto Tajo Natural Park, such as Corduente, have rural houses near the Barranco de la Hoz and its sanctuary. They are places for hikers, cyclists and those seeking pine forests and cold rivers, always by car. Accommodation is small and family-run, and in summer it is best to book early.
