Calle Mayor and the Colegiata

Calle Mayor crosses Daroca from end to end, from the Puerta Baja to the Puerta Alta, and is where the bars, shops and restaurants are concentrated. In its central stretch stands the collegiate church of Santa María, linked to the story of the Holy Corporals. Staying on this street or the side streets nearby puts everything a step away.

It suits first-time visitors who want to explore without a car. It is a quiet town with no nightlife, so you sleep well.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Cienbalcones, with a score of 8.7 from 2,134 reviews.

Puerta Baja and the Veinte Caños

The Puerta Baja, with its two towers, is Daroca’s best-known image. Next to it is the Fountain of the Twenty Spouts, and the Zaragoza road leaves close by. It is the entrance area to the town, with easier parking and quick access if you are moving on.

From here you enter the old town along Calle Mayor in a few steps. Nearby you can also see the mouth of the Mina, the tunnel dug to divert floodwater away from the main street.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Cienbalcones, with a score of 8.7 from 2,134 reviews.

The wall slopes

The walls climb the hills around the town to the remains of the Castillo Mayor. The streets in the upper part, on the slope, are steeper and very quiet, with views over the rooftops and towers. They are perfect for sunset walks following the wall.

From up there you can clearly see the layout of the walled area, with its towers spread across the hills.

Choose this area if you want total peace. On the other hand, cars struggle to get up and the slopes are hard with luggage. If your plans include seeing the cranes at the Gallocanta lagoon, Daroca works as a starting point by car.
