What is Marquês de Pombal?

It is the large roundabout with the statue of the marquis who rebuilt Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake. It sits at the top of the Avenida da Liberdade and at the entrance to Eduardo VII park, surrounded by offices and many hotels.

Getting there

Marquês de Pombal station has the blue and yellow metro lines. From here you can walk down the Avenida da Liberdade to the Baixa in about 20 minutes.

When rooms are hardest to find

From May to October, during the Santo António festivities in June and at big conferences. On weekdays there is a lot of business travel.

Which area to choose
