Where to stay in Andratx: the best areas

Port d’Andratx promenade

The promenade around the bay is where the port’s life is. Facing the moorings are fish restaurants, relaxed bars and ice-cream parlours, and excursion boats leave from the quays. Staying here lets you walk out to dinner and watch the bay light up at dusk.

It is the usual choice for couples and anyone who wants to sail or hire a motorboat. Do not expect a sandy beach in the port itself: the shore is quays and rocks.

Sa Mola and Cala Llamp

The hillsides enclosing the bay are full of villas and apartments with sea views. Sa Mola occupies the headland on the south side and, on the other side of the hill, Cala Llamp is a rocky cove with platforms for swimming. They are residential areas with lots of silence, steep streets and few shops. You need a car for almost everything.

Camp de Mar

East of the port, Camp de Mar has a small sandy beach among pines and an islet reached by a footbridge. It is surrounded by a golf course and developments. It is a good alternative if you want sand for the children without giving up dinner in the port.

Andratx town

Inland, the town is a village of steep streets and stone houses, with a market and locals’ bars. It has less nightlife than the port, but you gain authenticity and position: you are at the junction for the Serra de Tramuntana and the Estellencs coast. It suits hikers and cyclists.

Sant Elm

At the end of the road to the west, Sant Elm is a tiny village with a sheltered beach facing Sa Dragonera. There is hardly anything going on at night. By day, boats leave for the island. Ideal for switching off and walking to La Trapa.

Best-rated in this area: Universal Hotel Aquamarin, with a score of 9.0 from 1,573 reviews.
