Where to stay in Colònia de Sant Jordi: the best areas

Harbour and village centre

If you're coming to see Cabrera, stay by the harbour. Boats to the archipelago leave from the quay, and the national park visitor centre is in the village itself. Around it you have the promenade, terraces and fish restaurants, all within a few flat streets.

It's the liveliest area in the evening, although it still feels like a fishing village. Early in the morning you can catch the boat without taking the car out.

Es Dolç and Es Carbó

The beaches of Es Dolç and Es Carbó lie either side of the village. Staying in these streets lets you walk down to the sand with your towel and cool box. Es Carbó needs a longer walk along the coast, but it's worth it for its fine sand and shallow water. For families with young children it's a convenient option, as you avoid hunting for parking in summer.

Ses Covetes and Es Trenc

Ses Covetes is a small hamlet at the northern end of Es Trenc. The draw here is opening the window onto dunes and sea. There are few services and almost everything closes early, so it suits those looking for calm. For more dinner options or to get to the Colònia harbour you'll need a car.

Ses Salines and the interior

The village of Ses Salines, a few kilometres inland, has bars, restaurants and more everyday life out of season. On the road you'll pass the Es Trenc salt pans, which give the municipality its name.

Between Ses Salines and Campos there are plenty of country estates and farmhouses with pools, surrounded by almond trees and dry-stone walls. They are ideal for couples or groups with a car who want to combine the beach with Santanyí or Cap de ses Salines. Book early for July and August: there is little supply for so much demand.
