Where to stay in Paguera: the best areas
The boulevard and Platja de Palmira
The heart of Paguera is its boulevard, the pedestrian street that runs from one end of town to the other, parallel to the sea. That is where the shops, terraces and restaurants are. A step away is Platja de Palmira, the widest of the three beaches, with fine sand and shallow water.
It suits you if you are travelling with children and want to walk down to the beach with the parasol without touching the car. In the evening the boulevard fills with people strolling and eating outdoors, without the club noise of other parts of the island.
Platja de Tora
At the eastern end, Tora is a beach sheltered between rocks and pines, with the promenade right behind it. It is a little more relaxed than the centre, although the boulevard is a short walk away. It appeals to couples and anyone looking for calm water to swim in.
La Romana
West of the boulevard is La Romana, the smallest beach, with a narrow town stretch and low buildings around it. There is less going on at night and you sleep better. The road up to Cala Fornells starts here, as do paths among the pines to rocky coves.
Cala Fornells
On the hillside, among pines, Cala Fornells is a residential area with houses and apartments stepped down to a rocky cove with sunbathing platforms. The water is very clear and inviting for snorkelling. The slopes are steep, so bear that in mind if you are travelling with a pushchair or older people.
Camp de Mar
A few kilometres away, in the municipality of Andratx, Camp de Mar is a small beach with an islet linked to land by a footbridge. It is a quiet option for anyone with a car who wants Paguera close by for dinner or shopping.
