Walled town

Alcúdia’s old town keeps much of its medieval wall, with the Porta de Mallorca and the Porta del Moll. Inside are narrow streets with stone houses, squares with terraces and the church of Sant Jaume. A few steps from the wall are the remains of Pollentia, the city founded by the Romans.

Staying here is for people who prefer history and calm to beach life. At night, when the day visitors leave, the town returns to its quiet pace.

Port d’Alcúdia

Port d’Alcúdia is a few kilometres from the town, on the bay. It has a marina, a promenade and lots of restaurants and bars. Ferries to Menorca leave from its terminal. Here begins the long beach that runs around the whole bay. It is the area with the most nightlife in the district. There are many apartments and hotels along the promenade.

Best-rated in this area: Sand Beach Apartments, with a score of 8.8 from 1,265 reviews.

Alcúdia beach and Platja de Muro

South of the port, Alcúdia beach carries on until it joins Platja de Muro. The sand is fine and the water gets deep gradually, perfect for children. Most of the resorts are on this strip.

Behind the beach is s’Albufera de Mallorca Nature Park, with paths for cycling and birdwatching hides. In season, buses run along the coast.

Best-rated in this area: Prinsotel La Dorada & Spa, with a score of 8.7 from 2,308 reviews.

Alcanada and Mal Pas-Bonaire

To the north, facing the bay of Pollença, are Alcanada, with its islet and lighthouse, and the residential area of Mal Pas-Bonaire. There are small coves, pine woods and houses with gardens. This area appeals to people looking for rest, and the La Victòria peninsula and Cap des Pinar are close for walks. A car is useful for getting between coves and villages. Alcanada also has a golf course by the sea.

Best-rated in this area: Aparthotel Ona Aucanada, with a score of 8.4 from 3,002 reviews.
