Old Town and the cathedral

Huesca’s old town occupies a small hill ringed by the Coso. At the top are the cathedral, the Renaissance town hall and the Huesca Museum, which holds the Bell of Huesca hall. A little lower down is the church of San Pedro el Viejo, with its Romanesque cloister. It is the quietest area at night and suits those travelling to see monuments who enjoy walking narrow streets.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Pedro I de Aragón 4 Sup, with a score of 8.9 from 6,730 reviews.

Plaza de Navarra and the Coso

Plaza de Navarra, with the Fountain of the Muses and the Casino building, is the city’s meeting point. From here the Coso Alto and Coso Bajo set off around the historic centre, along with the arcaded Porches de Galicia. Shops, cafés and tapas bars cluster around. It is the most practical area for a short break: the old town is up the hill and the restaurants are at your door.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Pedro I de Aragón 4 Sup, with a score of 8.9 from 6,730 reviews.

Miguel Servet park and the station

Miguel Servet park is the great green lung of the centre, with walks and play areas, so it is a good choice if you are travelling with children. Very close is the intermodal station, bringing train and bus together in one building. It suits you if you are arriving by public transport or will be using the buses to the Pyrenees and the villages of the province.

Best-rated in this area: Hotel Pedro I de Aragón 4 Sup, with a score of 8.9 from 6,730 reviews.

Ensanche and the roads out

If you plan to use Huesca as a base for excursions, consider the Ensanche districts, with wider streets and easier parking. From here you can head out without crossing the centre towards Loarre castle, the Mallos de Riglos or the Sierra de Guara. You will have a slightly longer walk to the old town, but driving is much easier.
