Where to stay in Rubielos de Mora: the best areas

Inside the gates

Rubielos's historic centre, enclosed between the old San Antonio and Carmen gates, is the most special area to sleep. Stone mansions with coats of arms and wooden eaves surround the town hall and the former collegiate church, and the streets are almost empty by nightfall. The silence is total and the village can be covered in a stroll.

It is made for couples and anyone wanting an unhurried break. Cars cannot easily get into some streets, so it is best to leave yours outside the walls.

Village outskirts

Outside the gates, on the roads out of the village, there are rural houses and apartments with more space, gardens and easy parking. You are a few steps from the old town and, at the same time, close to the pine woods and the paths heading into the sierra.

Families with children and groups travelling with bikes or mountain gear usually prefer this option.

Mora de Rubielos

Mora de Rubielos is very close and is a somewhat larger village, dominated by its castle and its former collegiate church. It has more shops and services, and is an alternative if you cannot find a room in Rubielos. The two towns combine well on the same trip.

Fuentes de Rubielos and the sierra

To the east is Fuentes de Rubielos, a small village surrounded by countryside and pine-covered hills. Across the Gúdar-Javalambre district there are farmhouses and isolated rural houses, ideal for those seeking nature, walking routes and clear night skies.

In winter the sierra is often covered in snow and the roads can ice over, so check access conditions before setting off. In summer, by contrast, the cool nights are one of the area's attractions.
