Paseo de Jaume I and Llevant beach

The Paseo de Jaume I runs along Llevant beach, Salou's longest and liveliest, with palm trees, terraces and the illuminated Font Lluminosa fountain. Behind the promenade are the shopping streets and many of the bars. Everything is on foot: the sand, the shops and the restaurants.

This is the area for those who want atmosphere day and night. In high season it stays busy until late, so it is not the best choice for sleeping with small children.

Ponent and the harbour

West of the marina is Ponent beach, shorter and with calm water. The promenade continues towards Cambrils and you can walk or cycle along the sea. The atmosphere is more family-oriented than Llevant and you are still a short walk from the centre, so it combines calm with convenience.

Cap de Salou

The headland that closes off Salou to the east is covered in pine trees, villas and residential estates. From here you walk down to coves such as Cala Crancs and Cala Llenguadets, with Platja Llarga on the other side. A coastal path skirts the shore and is one of the prettiest walks in the area. Couples and those seeking quiet choose it, though the slopes and distance from the centre make a car or the city bus useful.

La Pineda and PortAventura

Within Vila-seca, La Pineda has a wide beach and a very family-oriented feel, with the Aquopolis water park nearby. From here and from around PortAventura World the theme parks are right at hand, which families planning several days at the rides will appreciate. On weekdays and outside summer it is very quiet.
