Historic centre and cathedral

Segorbe's old town is laid out around the cathedral, with its museum, and keeps stretches of wall, the Torre del Verdugo and the Torre de la Cárcel. Staying here puts you on foot among the narrow streets, the bars of the square and the Calle Colón, along which the Entrada de Toros y Caballos runs. It suits a cultural weekend break.

During the festival, the area fills up and is closed to traffic. If you are travelling then, book well ahead and ask about parking.

New town, the Glorieta and the station

The more modern part stretches towards the Glorieta Botánico Pau and the railway station, served by the C-5 commuter line from Valencia. You have shops, services and flat streets. It suits you if you arrive without a car or plan to cycle the Ojos Negros Vía Verde, which passes the town. From here it is a short walk up to the old town, passing near the Fountain of the 50 Spouts.

Navajas

A few kilometres away, Navajas was a summer retreat for Valencian families and keeps villas from that time. By the Palancia river is the Salto de la Novia, a much-visited waterfall with a pool. It is a quiet base for families and those who want nature nearby with Segorbe close at hand.

Altura

On the other side of Segorbe, Altura is a town with its own life and good access to the A-23 motorway. From here the mountain road leads to the sanctuary of the Cueva Santa. It suits you if you want to combine the town with routes in the Sierra de Espadán or the Calderona. Jérica, further up the Palancia valley with its Mudéjar tower, is also close.
