Old town
Among the caruggi there are small hotels, guesthouses and many apartments in old buildings. The cathedral, Via Garibaldi and the Old Port are on foot, with bars and shops at every step. Some alleys are deserted at night, so it is worth choosing a busy street.
De Ferrari and Via XX Settembre
Around Piazza De Ferrari and along Via XX Settembre, with its porticoes and shops, are the more traditional hotels. It is a central, well-connected area, with the metro and Brignole station nearby. The old town begins a few steps away.
Old Port and Principe
By the Old Port and around Principe station there are modern hotels and others in restored buildings facing the sea. It is convenient if you arrive by train or boat, and the aquarium and Via Garibaldi are close. It is also the practical area for cruises and ferries.
Albaro, Boccadasse and Nervi
To the east, the residential districts of Albaro and the little village of Boccadasse have quiet hotels and apartments near the sea. Further on, Nervi offers villas, parks and a promenade along the rocks, with direct trains to the centre. They are good options for a peaceful stay and a swim in summer.
