Where to stay in Caleta de Fuste: the best areas

The bay and the marina

Caleta de Fuste beach forms a sheltered half-moon, with golden sand and water with hardly any waves. Children can swim here safely. At one end is the marina, where pleasure boats and fishing trips leave from, and next to it the castle tower that gave the place its name.

Between the sand and the first streets are the restaurants, ice-cream parlours and shops. You can spend your holiday without using the car, walking along the promenade from the towel to dinner. The calm water of the bay is also good for trying kayaking or paddleboarding, which you can hire by the sand.

Inland streets

Behind the seafront, the town climbs in blocks of apartments and terraced houses, with supermarkets and the odd small square. It is quieter than the promenade and the sea is still close. It suits long stays and anyone who prefers to cook at home and go down to the beach when they feel like it.

Towards Salinas del Carmen and the golf

To the south, the coast opens up and the promenade continues to the Salinas del Carmen and its Salt Museum. This part has the area’s golf courses and large resorts with gardens and pools. It is the choice for golfers and anyone looking for complete calm.

From anywhere in Caleta, the FV-2 road takes you north to the airport and Puerto del Rosario, and south across the island. With a hire car you get straight to Betancuria, the Corralejo dunes or the JandΓa beaches. If you are not driving, there are buses to Puerto del Rosario.
