Where to stay in Los Gigantes: the best areas

By the marina

The lower part of the village, around the marina, is where you will see the cliffs head-on every morning. Here are the restaurants, dive shops, boat-trip stands and the small cove of Los GuΓos, with dark sand, tucked at the foot of the rock wall. Having dinner with the sunset over La Gomera is part of the plan.

It suits you if you are doing sea activities, such as kayaking, diving or the boat trip to see pilot whales, and want to get around without a car. It is lively by day and calms down early at night.

Upper Los Gigantes

The streets that climb from the port are full of apartments with terraces and ocean views. The slopes are very steep, so think about whether you can walk up and down every day. In return, the noise from below does not reach you and you have the cliffs in front of your balcony.

Puerto de Santiago and La Arena

To the south, almost joined to Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago has a seafront walk and La Arena beach, with volcanic sand, lifeguards and facilities in season. The ground is flatter and there are resorts with pools, supermarkets and bars. Families usually prefer this area for the beach and how easy it is to walk with children.

Tamaimo and Santiago del Teide

Heading inland, Tamaimo and the town of Santiago del Teide are hillside villages surrounded by fields and volcanoes. There are rural houses and small places to stay, and it is quiet. The road to Masca starts in Santiago del Teide, and you are better placed to go up to Teide National Park. You need a car and a jacket for the evening, because it is much cooler than on the coast.
